Report on Debate Competition
“One Nation One Election is Good for India” 01st August 2025
The electoral process is the foundation of Bharat's democracy. The One Nation, One Election proposal aims to synchronize elections for the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, and local bodies, with the objective of reducing financial and administrative burdens. However, concerns regarding its impact on federalism, state autonomy, and democratic accountability persist.
To understand the thinking and perspective of the youth of the new era, Kamkus College of Law organized a debate competition on 1st August 2025. Many students from the college actively participated in the event and expressed their views clearly.
The primary aim of the Debate Competition was to encourage critical thinking, enhance public speaking skills, and promote healthy dialogue among students on relevant social, legal, and national issues. It aimed to provide a platform where students could confidently express their viewpoints, listen to differing perspectives, and develop the ability to argue logically and respectfully.
The program began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony before Goddess Saraswati, led by our honorable Chairman, Mr. Karunakar Sukul, and respected Principal, Dr. Ambuj Sharma, who also extended their blessings and good wishes to the participants.
A total of 19 teams enthusiastically participated in the debate competition, which was a highly commendable and encouraging response. The active involvement of so many teams reflected the growing interest among students in engaging with intellectual discussions and current issues.
During the competition, some participants expressed their viewpoints in favour of the given topics, while others confidently presented their arguments against them. This balance of perspectives led to a healthy clash of ideas, making the debate highly engaging and thought-provoking. The diversity of opinions sparked a sense of curiosity and excitement among both the participants and the audience. Each argument brought a new dimension to the topic, turning the stage into a vibrant space of reasoning, logic, and critical analysis. The atmosphere was charged with energy, and the exchange of contrasting viewpoints truly captured the spirit of meaningful dialogue.
All the participants gave an outstanding performance, showcasing their preparation, confidence, and speaking skills. To evaluate their efforts fairly, a panel of judges was appointed, who assessed each team while strictly adhering to the rules and regulations of the competition. Given the high level of performance from all participants, it was extremely challenging to determine who had outperformed whom. Each student brought something unique to the stage, making the judging process both exciting and difficult.
However, as with every competition, there has to be a winner, and keeping this in mind, the judging panel carefully reviewed all aspects of the debates — including content, delivery, clarity, and rebuttals — before announcing the final results.
Final Result:
- Ist Prize : Ambuja Mishra (LL.B. 3rd Sem.)
- IInd Prize : Ojas Kapoor (B.A. LL.B. 1st Sem.)
- IIIrd Prize : Deepanshu Gupta (B.A. LL.B. 7th Sem.)
IMPACT OF THE EVENT:
Overall, the competition significantly contributed to the intellectual and personal growth of the students, promoting awareness, active participation in discussions, and a deeper understanding of social and legal issues. It truly upheld the educational objective of shaping well-informed, articulate, and responsible individuals.
