One‑Week Online Faculty Development Programme 17th – 22nd November 2025

“Experiential & Active Learning in Legal Education: Moving from Lecture‑Centric to Practice‑Oriented Teaching”

Legal education in India has traditionally relied on lecture‑based delivery of doctrinal material. While this approach supplies a solid knowledge base, it often falls short in developing the practical skills—client counselling, negotiation, digital research, and ethical judgment—that employers now demand.

Recent faculty‑development programme organised by Kamkus college of Law in collaboration with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut have highlighted the need to embed experiential learning (real‑client clinics, moot courts, simulations) and active‑learning techniques (problem‑based learning, flipped classrooms, reflective journals) into everyday teaching. This FDP is designed to equip law faculty with the tools, resources, and peer‑support needed to redesign their courses around practice‑oriented learning. The FDP was a one-week online program. Almost 190 participants participated on each day for both the sessions.

Programme Objectives
  • Understand the theory and evidence behind experiential and active‑learning pedagogies.
  • Design at least one course module that integrates doctrinal content with a hands‑on activity (e.g., a negotiation role‑play, a virtual court simulation, or a clinic‑based project).
  • Adopt technology‑enhanced learning tools such as AI‑driven legal research or virtual hearing platforms.
  • Create assessment rubrics that measure competency in professional skills as well as legal knowledge.
  • Build a community of practice among participants for ongoing mentorship and resource sharing.
