Report on Awareness Programme on the Maintenance And Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007

Kamkus College of Law, in association with the District Legal Services Authority, Ghaziabad, organized an awareness programme on 18th November 2025, Tuesday on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 with the objective of educating students, faculty, and members of the community about the legislative provisions safeguarding the rights and welfare of senior citizens. The session aimed to promote legal literacy and foster a sense of social responsibility among future legal professionals.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr.Ambuj Sharma, Principal of Kamkus College of Law, who emphasized the importance of understanding welfare legislation and the role of law students in promoting justice. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff of Kamkus College of Law. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the knowledge shared and acknowledged the importance of protecting the dignity and rights of senior citizens in society.

The programme was conducted with the objective to educate participants about the rights of senior citizens under the Act in order to create awareness about the legal obligations of children and relatives towards elderly family members and to explain the mechanisms available for elderly persons to seek maintenance and protection.
